On April 1st 1986, Michel Lalos, Mayor of Ballon, Joël Sadeler, Deputy Mayor, Michèle Sadeler, an English teacher in the René Cassin comprehensive school and Annick Lalos , a primary teacher, paid their first visit to Billinghay. They met Reverend Tom Williamson, Juneta Wilson, a member of the Parish Council, Marjorie and Terry Richards, in order to set up a twinning charter, which was officially signed on May 28th 1986.

For several years, the two comprehensive schools, the René Cassin school and the Lafford School, had been in constant contact with each other through school exchanges.

This association founded in conformity with the law of July 1st 1901 aims to organize school, cultural, sport, family or professional exchanges.

The Twinning Committee holds an annual general meeting. The executive members and their committee run the association.

Every year a meeting is organized between the two countries, in England the odd years and in France the even years. Thanks to these exchanges, links between families can be created and maintained. The French members of the twinning can improve or start their English and discover British ways of life.
